1.5 million people are evacuating from the Atlantic coast of Florida, USA. Hurricane Matthew is expected to arrive there on Thursday night (local time) and extensive damage is expected.
Hurricane Matthew is currently classed as a Category 4 storm, but could reach Category 5 before making landfall on the Florida coast.
The Govenor of Florida has warned residents winds will be strong enough to destroy buildings and stated the damage could be historic. A strong storm surge is also expected to flood coastal areas. South Carolina and Georgia are also on high alert.
As people in the USA put into place well rehearsed plans to cope with the arrival of Matthew, pictured have emerged of the effects Matthew has had on Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world.
At least 100 people have been killed there and that number is expected to rise as news comes in from parts of the country that have been cut off. Pictures from the town of Jeremie show near total devastation.
